Summer 1 Week 3

Dear Parents and Carers,

I do hope that you enjoyed the bank holiday weekend. The children had a fantastic week of learning in our temporary new classrooms. This week I will be visiting the classes, reviewing pupils work and talking to them about their learning. We value the feedback from our pupils and we will use their feedback to further improve our curriculum.

Please see below for reminders this week:

Lunches:

Children will still be required to bring in a packed lunch as hot meals will not be provided. We are hoping that HCL will able to resume normal service by Monday 10th May 2021 – further details to follow.

Keeping Our Community Safe:

Please check your child for symptoms, and do not come into school if they or anyone in your family show the following symptoms:

  • a high temperature (please try to take their temperature every morning)
  • a new, continuous cough or symptoms – this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
  • a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

The above 3 symptoms are from the NHS, and you should always consult your GP or call 111 NHS or use the coronavirus service https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19/

What to do if you have symptoms

If you have any of the main symptoms of coronavirus:

1. Get a test to check if you have coronavirus as soon as possible.

2. Stay at home and do not have visitors until you get your test result – only leave your home to have a test.

3. Anyone you live with, and anyone in your support bubble, must also stay at home until you get your result. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/  Always contact the school if you are unsure of what to do or would like some advice.

SHOULD YOUR CHILD DEVELOP ANY OF THE ABOVE SYMPTOMS, PLEASE INFORM THE SCHOOL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (VIA EMAIL) TO ENSURE THAT THE SCHOOL CAN TAKE THE NECCESARY PRECAUTIONS IN-LINE WITH OUR RISK ASSESSMENT AND GUIDANCE FROM OUR LOCAL HEALTH PROTECTION TEAM. PLEASE SEND THE EMAIL TO EITHER head@stanboroughprimary.org.ukor info@stanboroughprimary.org.uk

Attendance W/C  26th April 2021:

Each school in the local authority has an attendance target which is set for them. This year our published school attendance target is 96%. I am impressed with last week’s attendance – let’s aim for  100% across all year groups this week.

Year GroupAttendance
Nursery98.61
Reception100%
Year 194.12
Year 2100%
Year 3100%
Year 4100%

Please contact the office if your child is unable to attend school by 10:00am every day in line with our school policy. We understand that the building is cold but we have to keep the windows open for ventilation due to Government regulations, so please ensure that your children arrive to school with lots of layers to keep warm.

Parent Workshop – Relationship and Sex Education (RSE):

Mrs Zvezdova and Mrs Adewole will be hosting a parent and carers workshop on Wednesday 5th May 2021 at 7pm as part of our consultation process. The School office will send out  a zoom link nearer the time should you wish to attend. The school office will also email each year group intended topics to be covered this term for your perusal on Tuesday 4th May 2021.

Spellathon:

Several children have asked if we could move the Spellathon to a later date. As we value our pupils’ voice, our Spellathon will now take place this Friday, 7th May 2021, to give them more preparation time.

Admissions:

Please do let friends and family in the community (or further afield) know that we are still accepting pupils this year and from September onwards. Please click on admission to register your interest.
