Book Buddies @SPS

Announcing our new book club ‘Book Buddies@SPS’!

At Stanborough Primary School, we promote the enjoyment of reading for pleasure! We have joined the ‘Shadowing Scheme’ to help judge books that have been shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway and Carnegie Awards (Nationwide Book Awards).

Joining ‘Book Buddies @SPS’ will give your child an amazing opportunity to read a wide variety of books, discuss them, vote, and review them helping the judges of the Kate Greenaway and Carnegie Awards.

Book Buddies will promote a sense of belonging, discussion and give opportunities for children to be part of a wider reading culture and linking with other schools in the local area.  We will discuss our beliefs, morals, and whether these books agree with our school values.

The club will meet at lunchtime and at no extra cost. All children from Year 1 are welcome to join, however, we will need to meet in ‘bubbles’ (Year 1 and 2, Year 3 and 4, Year 5 and 6) and in a book area outside or inside in a classroom.

We are going to review the following books on the Kate Greenaway Short List:

The Carnegie Award Books (Shortlisted):

Carnegie Medal (Long List)Beverly, Right Here by Kate DiCamillo (Walker Books):

Please contact Mrs Bartley and Miss K who will be leading the shadowing groups, if your child would like to join ‘Book Buddies@SPS’ and receive an outstanding opportunity to read and review amazing books from May 2021 to July 2021 in a COVID safe environment.
