Dear Parents and Carers,
SCHOOL VALUE OF THE WEEK: Curiosity
Since we re-opened, we have had a few children off with a cold but have not had any positive tests for coronavirus. We know that parents are carefully following the guidance and checking children for any symptoms of coronavirus and are keen to check with school staff whether children should attend school or keep children at home. As we enter into the autumn term, it is common for colds and similar viral infections to circulate. In many cases, children will be well enough to attend school and continue their learning with little or no interruption to their education. In other cases, for instance where they have a heavy cold, they may need to take a day or two off to recover. If, however, children show one of the three main symptoms of coronavirus – high temperature, a persistent cough, or a loss of taste or smell – then they must not come to school and you should try to book a test. Only those with symptoms should be tested but everyone in the household should self-isolate – see further details below.
I would to thank all parents and carers for attending our annual introduction parent meetings which took place on Tuesday 17th September 2020. By now you should have received a welcome video from your class teacher and a copy of the slides from the meeting.
Thank you to the parents who have agreed to continue with HSA for another year. The Co-Chairs of the HSA will be sharing some more information about how you can get involved and further support the school within the next few weeks.

Keeping our Community Safe:
Please check your child for symptoms, and do not come into school if they or anyone in your family show the following symptoms:
- a high temperature (please try to take their temperature every morning)
- a new, continuous cough or symptoms – this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
- a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
The above 3 symptoms are from the NHS, and you should always consult your GP or call 111 NHS or use the coronavirus service https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19/
What to do if you have symptoms:
If you have any of the main symptoms of coronavirus:
1. Get a test to check if you have coronavirus as soon as possible.
2. Stay at home and do not have visitors until you get your test result – only leave your home to have a test.
3. Anyone you live with, and anyone in your support bubble, must also stay at home until you get your result. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/ Always contact the school if you are unsure of what to do or would like some advice.
SHOULD YOUR CHILD DEVELOP ANY OF THE ABOVE SYMPTOMS OVER THE WEEKEND, PLEASE INFORM THE SCHOOL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (VIA EMAIL) TO ENSURE THAT THE SCHOOL CAN TAKE THE NECCESARY PRECAUTIONS IN-LINE WITH OUR RISK ASSESSMENT AND GUIDANCE FROM OUR LOCAL HEALTH PROTECTION TEAM. PLEASE SEND THE EMAIL TO EITHER head@stanboroughprimary.org.uk or info@stanboroughprimary.org.uk
Birthday Celebrations
At this present moment in time we are asking parents and carers to refrain from sending in a birthday cake and treats to celebrate for your child’s class on their birthday until further notice.
One Vision
We would like to say a big thank you to Enoch Kanagaraj and One Vision for donating water bottles for our school community. We will keep the bottles at the office for when children forget their water bottles.
Attendance:
Each school in the local authority has an attendance target which is set for them. This year our published school attendance target is 96%.
Please see below for all class attendance this week:
