Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been another super week of learning despite the chillier weather! The children had lots of fun participating in the Bunny Hop for the Peace Hospice Fundraiser – once again, thank you for your generosity. In addition, we were pleased to introduce our new Chaplin to the children, Pastor Ray Patrick, who will be with us every Friday until the end of the academic year.
This week James Roach, CEO of the Multi Academy Trust, will observe lessons and speak with teachers and pupils to drive school improvement further. As promised at the Post Ofsted meeting, I will share his feedback and our success with you next week.
SCHOOL VALUE OF THE WEEK (W/C 2nd May 2022): Excellence
PBE Winning Team (Addition):
As previously mentioned in our April Newsletter, we would like to add that Christiana and Rutendo were also part of a team of 5 Adventurers who travelled to Belfast for a similar bible based quiz at Trans-European Division level. The Adventurers studied the book of Ruth and 1 Kings 1-6. The Pathfinders studied the book of Ruth and the whole book of 1 Kings. Winning teams had to score above 90% on the Bible-based quiz. We are proud to report that Christiana and Rutendo’s team were also successful. Double success for the Vaggas household indeed!
Dive Deep into our Curriculum – Writing:
We aim for our pupils to become creative writers and to express their knowledge clearly through the medium of writing. We recognise that writing is integral to our daily lives, and we encourage the children to ‘dare to dream’ and make a difference in the world. Therefore, we aim to prepare them to harness the writing skills they may need in their future careers, where they can share their gifts and talents with others. We encourage the children to consider and explore the purpose of their writing, whether to entertain, inform, or persuade their audience.
We will be sharing samples of writing beyond our classroom walls and school displays moving forward. Please keep an eye on the school website and Class Dojo as we want children to complete and showcase the end product of each new writing unit This will give the children the feeling of accomplishment in their writing knowing that they have had the desired effect on the reader as was intended. We also want them to know that their writing is valued and celebrated more widely.

Please contact the office if your child is unable to attend school by 10:00am every day in line with our school policy. We understand that the building is cold, but we have to keep the windows open for ventilation due to Government regulations, so please ensure that your children arrive at school with lots of layers to keep warm.
Food and Drink Reminder:
We work hard to ensure all the food and drink in school is healthy. Children are encouraged to bring a bottle of water to school each day and fresh fruit or vegetable snack for morning break (crisps, biscuits, cereal or fruit bars and smoothies are not acceptable as snacks).
Hertfordshire Catering Limited provides cooked meals from Monday to Friday, which is priced at £2.60 each. Pupils who elect to bring a packed lunch to school should also have healthy food and drink. The lunch must be in an appropriate container or bag, clearly marked with the child’s name and should never contain confectionery, sugary or fizzy drinks or food products that contain nuts. Nuts (in any form) are not permitted as some pupils have serious allergies. The school office must be notified of any other allergies to enable staff and pupils to take preventative measures at lunchtimes.
Fundraising Clothes Bank:
Please feel free to donate any unwanted clothes, shoes or textiles which will help raise funds for our school. Please ensure that all items are in a carrier bag/black sack before depositing. Thank you.
2 year old provision:
Stanborough Primary School is looking into the prospect of providing nursery places for 2 year olds from September 2022. So, we can gauge the level of interest in this provision, if you feel that this would be of relevance to you and your family please register your interest with the school office. If you have any questions or enquiries please feel free to speak with Mrs Dean-Roberts (EYFS Lead).
Additional INSET DAYS – Monday 6th June 2022:
