Autumn / Week 2

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you are well. I am informing you about last week’s events and activities and providing some reminders and updates for the coming week.

Firstly, I am pleased to announce that all classes have resumed their routine and are fully engrossed in the curriculum across all subjects. It is lovely to witness the enthusiasm and eagerness among our students as they delve into their lessons.

I would also like to draw your attention to our latest appointment – our sports captain. Please log in to Class Dojo for more detailed information about this role and the student who has been selected. We are proud of our student’s accomplishments and encourage their active participation in sports.

Next week, we will be conducting the school council elections. I want to remind our Year 6 children, in particular, to prepare their manifestos should they wish to apply for any of the following positions: Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary. It is an excellent opportunity to express their leadership skills and contribute to the school’s decision-making process. Additionally, class representatives should consider why they should be elected and what positive changes they would like to bring to the school and enhance the well-being of their fellow pupils.

Today, we will also take the time to revisit the topic of bullying. Our students must understand the different forms of bullying and its impact on individuals. Ensuring a shared understanding can foster a safe and inclusive environment for everyone at our school. Furthermore, we will address online safety, encouraging students to be mindful of the information they search for and share online. I urge all parents and carers to regularly review search engines and monitor their children’s online activities to ensure their safety and well-being. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns regarding the abovementioned matters.

I value your involvement and support in our educational journey and appreciate your dedication towards your child’s education.

I look forward to another productive and successful week ahead.

Attendance W/C 11th September 2023:

Each school under the local authority has a designated attendance goal, and this year, our school’s target is to achieve a 96% attendance rate. Naturally, we do not anticipate unwell children to attend school as they need ample rest to recuperate and prevent the spread of illness to others.

If a child arrives after the register’s closing time, it will be marked as an unauthorised absence unless a valid reason is provided and approved by the Headteacher. Any child arriving late (after 08.50am) must go to the school office and be signed in by an accompanying adult. If a pattern of tardiness becomes frequent, the Headteacher will address the matter with the parent. It is important to note that being only 5 minutes late each day could result in your child missing the equivalent of three school days over the year.

Year GroupAttendance %
Nursery96.88%

Year 198.33%
Year 2100%
Year 395.83%
Year 488.89%

Year 698.0%

Improving attendance is vital for a thriving learning environment. We are committed to sustaining our attendance incentive program, featuring termly certificates, extra playtime for classes with 100% attendance, and special privileges for students with outstanding records. These privileges will be determined collaboratively with our school council in the upcoming weeks. Well done to year 2 and year 5 for 100% you will receive an additional5 minutes play this week.

Medical/Dental Appointments:

To ensure accurate attendance records, please provide a written note to your child’s teacher or the school office or call the office to report any absences. It is important to follow our school policy and inform the office by 10:00 am if your child is unable to attend school. Thank you for your cooperation.

Packed Lunches:

We would also like to confirm that starting Monday, September 25th, Lees’ Kitchen will provide school dinners exclusively from Monday to Thursday (email to follow). These meals will be priced at £3.00 each. Please note that all meal payments must be made in advance through the school office or by depositing funds into the school account.

In the meantime, please continue sending your children packed lunches daily. Additionally, if you send a hot meal from home, please ensure it is packed in a suitable container, not made of glass, as our staff cannot reheat food.

After-School Club Collection Reminder:

Our after-school clubs finish promptly at 4:45pm Monday to Thursday and at 2:45pm on Fridays. If you anticipate that you may be late, I would like to ask that you kindly contact the school office to inform us of the expected delay. If you are unable to reach our office team, please leave a message and they will endeavour to forward it to the staff on duty. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that late collections may result in additional charges to cover extended staff hours. We are keen to avoid this where possible, and your cooperation and consideration is greatly appreciated.
