Dear Parents and Carers,
Last week we participated in anti-bullying week. Well done pupils and staff for remembering to wear your odd socks last week Monday. The children have thoroughly enjoyed participating in fun-filled sessions this week to address this year’s anti-bullying theme – United Against Bullying. We are pleased to report that this year, more than ever, we’ve witnessed the positive power that society can have when we come together to tackle a common challenge.

SCHOOL VALUE OF THE WEEK: Resilience
Festive Movie & Games Afternoon:
We will be holding a Festive Movie & Games afternoon here at Stanborough Primary School on Wednesday, 2nd December 2020. The children who sign up will stay on after school (remaining in class bubbles and classroom) and watch a movieand play games. The cost will be £5.00 and will include vegetarian hot dog or cheese & tomato pizza, popcorn and a drink. If you would like to sign your child up for this festive event, please see attached flyer.
Christmas Book Fair:
Due to the current situation we will not be holding our annual Christmas book fair this year. However, your child will be bringing home a Scholastic BookClub magazine in their book bags today. You are more than welcome to order books from the magazine by completing the order form on the back and returning with the correct payment in an envelope to the school office by Friday, 27th November 2020. The school will receive 20% back on all orders in the form of free books for our school library.
School Photographs:
The proofs have gone home in book bags today. Please order online or return to the school office with payment by Friday, 4th December 2020. Van Cols will have the orders ready before we break up for the Christmas holidays.
Uniform:
Please can we ask you to ensure that your child wears the correct school uniform on the days that they are not coming to school in their P.E. kits or Outdoor Learning clothes. We have noticed that standards are slipping and we would like our Stanborough Primary School children to represent us in the community with pride. I have attached a copy of the uniform list for your perusal. The HSA have several uniform items in stock should you need to purchase anything – please contact the school office.
Flu Nasal Vaccinations:
The nurses were in school on Monday 9th November to administer the flu vaccination to those children with a signed permission form. They will be returning on Tuesday 15th December 2020 to provide the flu vaccination to any children who were unable to take the vaccine at their last visit. If you would like your child to have the vaccination in this session, then please fill out the attached Flu Vaccination consent form and return it to the school office.
Chromebooks:
I am pleased to advise that the order for Chromebooks has been placed. We have been informed today by our supplier that there is a considerable demand for Chromebooks and that it is unlikely that we will receive our order before the end of the term. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by this delay. We will, of course, keep you informed of any changes to the expected delivery date.

Keeping our Community Safe:
Please check your child for symptoms, and do not come into school if they or anyone in your family show the following symptoms:
- a high temperature (please try to take their temperature every morning)
- a new, continuous cough or symptoms – this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
- a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
The above 3 symptoms are from the NHS, and you should always consult your GP or call 111 NHS or use the coronavirus service https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19/
What to do if you have symptoms:
If you have any of the main symptoms of coronavirus:
1. Get a test to check if you have coronavirus as soon as possible.
2. Stay at home and do not have visitors until you get your test result – only leave your home to have a test.
3. Anyone you live with, and anyone in your support bubble, must also stay at home until you get your result. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/ Always contact the school if you are unsure of what to do or would like some advice.
SHOULD YOUR CHILD DEVELOP ANY OF THE ABOVE SYMPTOMS OVER THE WEEKEND, PLEASE INFORM THE SCHOOL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (VIA EMAIL) TO ENSURE THAT THE SCHOOL CAN TAKE THE NECCESARY PRECAUTIONS IN-LINE WITH OUR RISK ASSESSMENT AND GUIDANCE FROM OUR LOCAL HEALTH PROTECTION TEAM. PLEASE SEND THE EMAIL TO EITHER head@stanboroughprimary.org.uk or info@stanboroughprimary.org.uk
Attendance:
Each school in the local authority has an attendance target which is set for them. This year our published school attendance target is 96%.
Please see below for all classes with 100% attendance last week:
Nursery | 100% |
Reception | 100% |
Year 1 | 100% |
Year 2 | 100% |
Year 3 | 100% |
Year 4 | 100% |
Year 5 | 98.7% |
Year 6 | 100% |
If you are requesting time off for your child for exceptional circumstances such as an operation, you must complete an Absence Request Form. You can get an Absence Request Form from the office. Please let the school office know if your child needs to isolate immediately as this will enable us to provide a remote provision for your son or daughter.
School Lunches:
HCL provide school lunches Monday – Friday (£2.50 per day), please see the attached NEW menu for Autumn Term 2020 and remember to pre-order your child’s meal choice (especially the younger children). Please pay for school meals in advance via the school office (wearing a face covering) or preferably via bank transfer to the school account with the reference of your child’s name DINNERS. If you wish to pay for the whole Autumn Term (2nd half) there are 32 days in total which is £80.00.
HSA News:
Over the next few days, the HSA will be sharing some fun fundraising ideas that will be taking place leading up to the end of the term. Please try and support as many initiatives as you can as all proceeds raised are used to develop the work of the school further. The children can look forward to some of the following:
- Craft afternoons
- Themed Non – Uniform Days
- Bauble making crafts and so much more!
