Autumn 1 Week 6

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thanks to everyone for wearing yellow and participating in #HelloYellow on Monday, 10th October, for Young Minds charity, which focuses on children’s mental health. Thank you all for your donations and your support for this fantastic cause. I want to remind our pupils that their feelings matter and that they can always speak to a member of the Wellbeing Team, Pastor Ray, their parents or a trusted adult if they are concerned about anything.

The Senior Leadership Team and I reviewed pupil books in Maths, English and Topic. We were delighted with the progress the pupils have made since the start of the term, and we look forward to sharing your child’s progress with you at our Parent Consultation meeting on Wednesday, 2nd November and Thursday, 3rd November 2022. We will continue with our book reviews, learning walks and discussions with pupils about their learning this week to enable us to plan for next term.

In addition, this week, the children will be participating in a dance workshop, the school council will be attending the One Vision tree planting ceremony, and finally, the KS2 choir will be performing at the Secondary School Speech Evening on Thursday evening – a letter containing more information and a permission slip will be sent home today.

Attendance W/C 3rd October 2022:

Each school in the local authority has an attendance target that is set for them. This year our school attendance target is 96%. Of course, we do not expect children who are unwell to come to school. They need to stay at home and rest to get well. They also need to stay at home, so they do not pass on illness to others.

To encourage good attendance, every half term the children will receive certificates for 97% and above attendance. We will monitor all children that have 100% attendance each week. At the end of each term they will be given a sticker with the number of weeks they have had 100% attendance for and swap this for a prize; the more stickers they have, the more choice they will have to choose a prize e.g. an amazon voucher or book. Additionally, the class with the best attendance at the end of each term will win a pizza takeaway lunch.

I am impressed with last week’s attendance figures – let us aim for 100% attendance from Reception to Year 6.
