Dear Parents and Carers,
The children have made an excellent start to the Summer term. Last Friday, the year 4 and 5 children attended and participated in the Stephen Lawrence memorial service, organised by Enoch Kanagaraj – our parent governor. This significant landmark occasion included members from the British Union Conference and senior dignitaries from Hertfordshire and beyond. The children were particularly inspired by the new Inclusion and Diversity Director who used the metaphor of the harmony produced by the black and white keys of a piano to address the wonder and importance of unity within the community. Again, our children shone bright like the stars that God created, them to be, for all to see. The children were inspired and grateful for the opportunity afforded to them.
Ofsted Parent Meeting:
I want to thank everybody who was able to attend this meeting. A copy of the PowerPoint shared at this meeting has been attached for your perusal. We intend to organise several sessions across the academic year to provide you with an opportunity to meet with governors to discuss the progress and future development of the school.
Dive Deep into our Curriculum – Reading:
Reading is a crucial part of a child’s ability to be independent in accessing a whole host of learning with confidence and clarity. With the support of the school and yourself, we are helping your child to engage with books and reading. This enables children to understand basic features of a book such as the title and author. The love of reading and a good story is something that can be used when creating imaginative play and story writing throughout school. Through supporting us with reading with your child, you are helping to spark the curiosity and joy of reading. Over the next few weeks Mrs Bartley will be compiling a recommended book list for all year groups – so keep your eyes peeled!
