Dear Parents and Carers,
SCHOOL VALUE OF THE WEEK: Curiosity
Last week was another eventful week – the children have been busy rehearsing for our virtual Christmas concert which will be recorded tomorrow and shared with all parents and carers next week. Please do keep an eye on Class Dojo for messages relating to costumes.
On Friday 4th December our local MP, Russell Dean, visited the Year 3 & 4 children to share some of the stories he wrote and to talk about his role and work as an MP in the Houses of Parliament. The children demonstrated the values of excellence and curiosity through their questioning skills. We look forward to welcoming the MP again to our school in the Spring Term.
Some of our Year 5 pupils and Mrs Adewole joined our parents on the prayer walk as they prayed for our schools, pupils, staff, families and for God’s continued divine protection.
With less than two weeks left before we break up for the Christmas holidays, a lot is going on in school that we know children are excited about. However, please be reassured that we are still sticking to the safety measures we have put in place to keep everyone safe during the coronavirus outbreak.
Christmas Dinner :
HCL will be providing us with a vegetarian Christmas dinner this year. This will be on Wednesday, 9th December 2020 (Please note that the normal menu will not be running this day). Children may wear non-uniform at no extra charge. If you have not ordered a Christmas lunch for your child please remember to pack them a lunch.
HSA Lunch & Non-uniform Day – Wednesday, 16th December 2020:
We are pleased to advise that the HSA will be providing the children with a vegetarian burger, pizza or hot dog lunch box for £2.50. If you have already paid for our HCL lunch then your child will just need to let their class teacher know what they would like to order by Friday, 11th November 2020. Alternatively, please ensure you order the HSA lunch box at the school office by Friday, 11th November 2020 (PLEASE NOTE WE WILL NOT BE SERVING THE NORMAL MENU THAT DAY). The children can wear their own clothes this day for no extra charge.

Keeping our Community Safe:
Please check your child for symptoms, and do not come into school if they or anyone in your family show the following symptoms:
- a high temperature (please try to take their temperature every morning)
- a new, continuous cough or symptoms – this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
- a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
The above 3 symptoms are from the NHS, and you should always consult your GP or call 111 NHS or use the coronavirus service https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19/
What to do if you have symptoms:
If you have any of the main symptoms of coronavirus:
1. Get a test to check if you have coronavirus as soon as possible.
2. Stay at home and do not have visitors until you get your test result – only leave your home to have a test.
3. Anyone you live with, and anyone in your support bubble, must also stay at home until you get your result. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/ Always contact the school if you are unsure of what to do or would like some advice.
SHOULD YOUR CHILD DEVELOP ANY OF THE ABOVE SYMPTOMS OVER THE WEEKEND, PLEASE INFORM THE SCHOOL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (VIA EMAIL) TO ENSURE THAT THE SCHOOL CAN TAKE THE NECCESARY PRECAUTIONS IN-LINE WITH OUR RISK ASSESSMENT AND GUIDANCE FROM OUR LOCAL HEALTH PROTECTION TEAM. PLEASE SEND THE EMAIL TO EITHER head@stanboroughprimary.org.uk or info@stanboroughprimary.org.uk
Attendance:
Each school in the local authority has an attendance target which is set for them. This year our published school attendance target is 96%.
Please see below for all classes with 100% attendance last week:
Nursery | 100% |
Reception | 97.7% |
Year 1 | 100% |
Year 2 | 95% |
Year 3 | 95.5% |
Year 4 | 100% |
Year 5 | 98.7 |
Year 6 | 100% |
If you are requesting time off for your child for exceptional circumstances such as an operation, you must complete an Absence Request Form. You can get an Absence Request Form from the office. Please let the school office know if your child needs to isolate immediately as this will enable us to provide a remote provision for your son or daughter.
Kind regards
Mrs T Madden
