Dear Parents and Carers,
Last week Monday, the children exercised democracy through our yearly elections of the following leadership positions within the school:
- School Council
- Team Captains
- Faith Ambassadors
- Digital Leaders
- Wellbeing Champions (New position following the pupil’s voice)
We have shared the results with the pupils. Today during assembly, the children will be awarded their new badges and we will share the outcome with the whole school community in our October Newsletter. This month also marks the celebration of Black History Month (BHM) in the UK. It celebrates the achievements and contributions that black people have made in history, which have been often overlooked. This year’s theme is Time for Change: Actions Not Words. The purpose of this theme is not just to educate people on Black History but inform and empower people to be true allies in the anti-racism movement. At Stanborough Primary School, we will continue to celebrate BHM by making curricular links in all subjects to black Mathematicians, Scientists, Historians, Geographers, Artists and Biblical Scholars to spark inspiration and motivation to achieve amongst all of our pupils.

Attendance W/C 3rd October 2022:
Each school in the local authority has an attendance target that is set for them. This year our school attendance target is 96%. Of course, we do not expect children who are unwell to come to school. They need to stay at home and rest to get well. They also need to stay at home, so they do not pass on illness to others.
To encourage good attendance, every half term the children will receive certificates for 97% and above attendance. We will monitor all children that have 100% attendance each week and a the end of each term they will be given a sticker with the number of weeks they have had 100% attendance for and swap this for a prize; the more stickers they have, the more choice they will have to choose a prize e.g. an amazon voucher or book. The class with the best attendance at the end of each term will win a pizza takeaway lunch.
I am impressed with this week’s attendance figures – let’s aim for 100% attendance from Reception to Year 6.
Year Group | Attendance % |
Nursery | 61.76% |
Reception | 100% |
Year 1 | 100% |
Year 2 | 100% |
Year 3 | 98.57% |
Year 4 | 97.14% |
Year 5 | 98% |
Year 6 | 96.67% |
Please contact the office if your child is unable to attend school by 10:00 am every day in line with our school policy.
