Autumn 2 Week 4

Dear Parents and Carers,

Last week I advised that we had seen a rise in Covid cases within the school community; this week, I am delighted to say that the measures we have taken in school, on advice from Public Health England (PHE), have had a positive impact. I want to commend the staff and pupils for adapting to the changes and new procedures quickly. We will, of course, continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed of any further changes. Our aim as ever is to maintain the safety of the whole of the community and we will, as always, work as a collective to do that.

This week we will continue to build on the theme of ‘One Kind Word’  from Anti-Bullying week as we want to ensure that we continue to create a ripple effect of kindness within our school community. We know that our pupils are kind and thoughtful but we would like them to become braver by challenging their peers about either the words that they have chosen or how they behave.  As it is important that we let our lights shine in our words and actions.

COVID-19
You will be aware that NHS test and trace now get in touch with close contacts, who are then advised to take a PCR test. Pupils under 18 identified as close contacts do not need to self-isolate if they do not have symptoms.  As you know, our contingency plan is now in operation due to an outbreak.  General COVID information Symptoms: • a high temperature • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours • a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal  If you are not sure whether you or your child’s symptoms suggest that they have coronavirus or an everyday cough or cold, you can consult this online NHS symptom checker: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/ For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.  If you are concerned about your child’s health or the health of anyone else in your household please seek advice from your GP, use NHS 111 online https://111.nhs.uk/ or call NHS 111.  There are things you can do to reduce the risk of getting COVID-19: • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available • wash your hands as soon as you get to your destination • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterward

Finally, let us remember – “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Love and Blessings,
