Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome! I do hope that everyone had a wonderful and restful break and are feeling recharged and ready for the exciting months ahead.
The Summer term is always a time of anticipation and enthusiasm. With longer days and warmer weather, the season brings a renewed sense of energy and opportunity for our pupils to thrive. The staff have been working tirelessly to prepare an engaging and enriching term for our pupils, and we are looking forward to the many wonderful activities and events planned for the coming weeks.
As we begin this term, I would like to emphasise the importance of maintaining a positive and growth-oriented mindset. This term is a fresh start for our pupils, an opportunity to build on the progress made in the previous term, and to set new goals for themselves.
We have a busy term ahead, with a range of exciting activities, including sports day, school trips, talent show, end of year celebrations, and much more. We are also continuing to prioritise our pupils’ wellbeing, with a range of initiatives designed to support their mental and emotional health.
As always, we will keep you updated on the latest news and events happening at our school through our website, newsletters, and social media platforms. I encourage you to stay involved and engaged in your child’s education throughout the term. Let us make this Summer term one of great learning, personal growth, and success for all our students. Together, we can make it a term to remember!

SPELLATHON:
Our school’s annual spellathon event is just around the corner, taking place on Friday, April 21st. This year, the event will be held in-house and will be an excellent opportunity for our pupils to showcase their spelling skills. As always, we will be sharing the results of the spellathon with the school community through our newsletters. We encourage all our pupils to prepare for this exciting event and to continue to develop their spelling abilities throughout the term. We wish everyone the best of luck!
South West Herts Consortium – Year 6 2023/24:
I am pleased to inform you that the online registration for the transfer has opened on April 11th and will be open until Friday, June 16th, 2023.
To find out more about the transfer process and relevant dates, please visit the link provided below: https://www.swhertsschools.org.uk/calendar/.
We encourage all parents to take note of the registration deadlines and ensure that their child is registered within the given timeframe. Our school remains committed to supporting our pupils’ educational journey and providing them with the necessary resources and guidance to excel.
Summer Term Clubs:
Summer term after-school clubs for Reception – Year 6 will start back next week ,W/C 24th April 2023 (No after-school clubs will be running this week)
If your child attended clubs last term you are still required to re-register them using the attached signing-up sheet. Please ensure all forms are completed (and handed to school office) and that club fee payments are made before your child attends the club. Hard copies of the attached will be sent home in book bags this week.
Lateness:
We have observed that sometimes children can become anxious or embarrassed when they arrive late to school and have to enter the classroom when learning has begun. We understand, of course, that there can be exceptional reasons for lateness. It is, however, a parent’s legal responsibility to have his/her child in school for registration. Children can be in school from 8:30 am each day ready for a prompt 8:45 am start. A frequent pattern of ‘lateness’ would need to be addressed via a meeting with the Designated Safeguarding Lead or Headteacher.
Medical/Dental Appointments:
Please hand in a written note to the teacher/school office or telephone the school office. This ensures your child’s attendance is recorded correctly. Please contact the office if your child is unable to attend school by 10:00 am every day in line with our school policy.
Packed Lunches:
Please be reminded that we no longer serve school dinners and that you must provide your child with a packed lunch daily until further notice. We have received a number of queries with regard to bringing hot food from home as a packed lunch. We are happy for you to do so, but please use a suitable container – NO GLASS. Unfortunately, staff are unable to reheat the food.
Swimming Lessons – SUMMER TERM 2023
Swimming lessons will take place on Monday afternoons (1.30 pm – 2 pm) until the end of the Summer Term. Children are required to wear their full PE kit (instead of the full school uniform) with the school logo visible as they are representing the school and we wish to maintain our high uniform standards at all times. Children are required to bring trunks/a swimsuit (one-piece swimming costume only), a towel and goggles in a separate swimming bag. Please note when the children enter the changing area, they are required to remove their shoes and socks. Plastic overshoes are not provided so children may bring a lightweight pair of clean flip-flops to wear.
