Dear Parents/Carers,
It was a wonderful first week back at school last week, and I want to start by saying a big well done to all the pupils who took part in the Spellathon last Friday. You all did an amazing job, and I was so proud to see the effort and enthusiasm the pupils put into it. Results will be shared at our End of Year Awards & Leavers Assembly. Let’s keep working together to make sure all our pupils have a positive and rewarding learning experience.
Looking ahead, to this week; Year 5 and 6 children will be setting off on their residential trip today, and I couldn’t be more excited for them! It’s an incredible opportunity for them to learn new skills, make new friends, and expand their horizons. Mrs Warwick, Miss K, Newbold pupils and teachers, and I will be there to support them every step of the way, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated on Class Dojo.
I also want to extend a warm welcome to our overseas students who will be joining us at Stanborough Primary School this week. It is always a pleasure to welcome new pupils and families to our school community, and I am sure that they will enjoy spending time with their peers, learning new things, and trying out new experiences with Mrs Kochhar & Mrs Mabhena.
Thank you all for your continued support, and here’s to another fantastic week at Stanborough Primary!

Attendance W/C 17th April 2023:
Each school under the local authority has a designated attendance goal, and this year, our school’s target is to achieve a 96% attendance rate. Naturally, we do not anticipate unwell children to attend school as they need ample rest to recuperate and prevent the spread of illness to others.
If a child arrives after the register’s closing time, it will be marked as an unauthorised absence unless a valid reason is provided and approved by the Headteacher. Any child arriving late (after 08.50am) must go to the school office and be signed in by an accompanying adult. If a pattern of tardiness becomes frequent, the Headteacher will address the matter with the parent. It is important to note that being only 5 minutes late each day could result in your child missing the equivalent of three school days over the year.
Year Group | Attendance % |
Nursery | 98% |
Reception | 100% |
Year 1 | 98.21% |
Year 2 | 92.5% |
Year 3 | 82.81% |
Year 4 | 85.48% |
Year 5 | 100% |
Year 6 | 97.92% |
Congratulations to Years Reception and Year 5 for 100% attendance this week. All classes with 100% attendance will receive an additional 15 minutes of playtime this week.
Medical/Dental Appointments:
To ensure accurate attendance records, please provide a written note to your child’s teacher or the school office or call the office to report any absences. It is important to follow our school policy and inform the office by 10:00 am if your child is unable to attend school. Thank you for your cooperation.

Summer uniform should be worn as usual except on days when the children are partaking in Wellness Wednesday activities and P.E/Swimming lessons. Please see table below. Swimming Lessons – SUMMER TERM 2023
From now until the end of the Summer Term, swimming lessons will be held on Monday afternoons from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm. During these lessons, children should wear their full PE kit instead of their school uniform, and the school logo should be visible as they represent the school. We aim to always maintain high uniform standards. Children should bring a swimsuit or trunks (one-piece swimsuits only), a towel, and goggles in a separate swimming bag. Please note that when the children enter the changing area, they are required to remove their shoes and socks. Plastic overshoes will not be provided, so children may bring a clean and lightweight pair of flip-flops to wear.
Reminder South West Herts Consortium – Year 6 2023/24:
Online registration for the transfer is now open and will continue until Friday, June 16th, 2023. You can learn more about the transfer process and important dates by visiting the following link: https://www.swhertsschools.org.uk/calendar
We urge all parents to take note of the registration deadlines and ensure that their child is registered within the specified timeframe.
Summer Term Clubs:
Starting this week, after-school clubs for Reception to Year 6 students will resume for the summer term and will run until the term’s end. If your child participated in the clubs last term, you need to re-register them by completing the attached sign-up sheet. Please ensure that all forms are filled out and submitted to the school office, and that the club fees are paid before your child attends.
Packed Lunches:
We would like to remind you that school dinners are no longer available, and it is necessary for you to provide your child with a packed lunch every day until further notice. We have received several inquiries about including hot food in packed lunches from home. You may do so, but please ensure that it is packed in a suitable container and not in glass, as our staff are unable to reheat the food.
