Summer 1 Week 4

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been such a busy week at school that I did not even notice that we were not in school last Monday! The year six children have been busy preparing for the SATs this week, so please remember them in your prayers. The bible reminds us not to be anxious about anything Philippians 4, so with this in mind, Iwant to remind our year six pupils that God will be with you at all times. He has a plan and purpose for your lives which is not defined by the results from your SATs assessments – it is a snapshot of a moment in time and not the whole picture! So be bold and courageous because God is with you. Remember to let your light shine bright like the star He has created you to be. We are proud of your achievements, and we are excited to see God’s plans for your lives unfold.

SATs – Governance

Mr James and I are delighted to be able to visit the school this week. Primarily our role will be to provide additional support in school if needed and to fulfil our statutory duties of ensuring that these essential national curriculum assessments are carried out according to the Department of Education’s requirements. We will look at ‘safe’ storage and distribution of test papers, an overview of provision for all pupils and provision for those who may need additional support to access the papers. We know that God and the school community will support and guide our pupils through the tests, and as governors, we’d like to take this opportunity to wish all our Year 6 pupils the very best for SATs week.  Lorraine McDonald, BUC Education Director

Mental Health Awareness Week 2022 9th – 15th Ma

This year, Mental Health Awareness Week takes place from the 9th of May to the 15th of May, and schools across the UK will be celebrating and promoting Mental Health Awareness!

The theme for 2022 is loneliness: the experience of feeling lonely, its effect on our mental health, and how we can play a part in reducing loneliness in our communities. The children will participate in a range of activities this week to explore this theme by getting children to think about friendships and support systems, how to treat others with kindness and what to do if they feel lonely.

Make sure you keep an eye on Class Dojo to see some pictures of our activities!

If you would like further information about loneliness and how to support yourself or your child, please visit this fantastic resource shared by the Mental Health Foundation (it is free to download): https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/projects/peer-education-project-pep/schools-resources/lonelinessfinding-our-connections-feel-less-lonely-school-pack

Each school in the local authority has an attendance target that is set for them. This year our school attendance target is 97%. Of course, we do not expect children who are unwell to come into school. They need to stay at home and rest to get well. They also need to stay at home, so they don’t pass on illness to others.

Please contact the office if your child is unable to attend school by 10:00am every day in line with our school policy. We understand that the building is cold, but we have to keep the windows open for ventilation due to Government regulations, so please ensure that your children arrive at school with lots of layers to keep warm.

Fundraising Clothes Bank:

Please feel free to donate any unwanted clothes, shoes or textiles which will help raise funds for our school. Please ensure that all items are in a carrier bag/black sack before depositing. Thank you.

2 year old provision:

Stanborough  Primary School is looking into the prospect of providing nursery places for 2 year olds from September 2022. So, we can gauge the level of interest in this provision, if you feel that this would be of relevance to you and your family please register your interest with the school office. If you have any questions or enquiries please feel free to speak with Mrs Dean-Roberts (EYFS Lead).

Additional INSET DAYS – Monday 6th June 2022:

We have arranged an additional INSET day, which will take place after May half-term. Therefore, pupils will not be required to attend school on  Monday 6th June 2022. This will allow school leaders and teachers to meet and undertake essential training, which will continue to strengthen our schools and ultimately enhance the learning experience for all our children.
