Dear Parents and Carers,
I trust that this email finds you well. We have had another successful week of learning online. I am incredibly proud of how hard you have all been working. Mr James, The Secondary School Headteacher, and I conducted a virtual learning walk on Thursday 4th February, and we were impressed with the high levels of pupil engagement across the school. Children were well behaved and clearly articulated themselves when participating in class discussions. It was pleasing to see the school values of self-control, respect, independence, co-operation and excellence on display. Keep up the good work.
On Friday, 5th February – Pastor Bernie Holford & his wife Karen, led our whole school assembly focusing on Children’s Mental Health and Wellbeing. I would particularly like to thank the year two children for expressing and sharing their gifts and talents on Class Dojo. I would also like thank the children who uploaded pictures of their screen-free activities. I do hope you enjoyed the screen-free hour last week! We are planning something special for our last day of term. More details coming soon.

FAO of Parents Whose Children are in school:
Please check your child for symptoms, and do not come into school if they or anyone in your family show the following symptoms:
- a high temperature (please try to take their temperature every morning)
- a new, continuous cough or symptoms – this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
- a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
The above 3 symptoms are from the NHS, and you should always consult your GP or call 111 NHS or use the coronavirus service https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19/
What to do if you have symptoms:
If you have any of the main symptoms of coronavirus:
1. Get a test to check if you have coronavirus as soon as possible.
2. Stay at home and do not have visitors until you get your test result – only leave your home to have a test.
3. Anyone you live with, and anyone in your support bubble, must also stay at home until you get your result. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/ Always contact the school if you are unsure of what to do or would like some advice.
SHOULD YOUR CHILD DEVELOP ANY OF THE ABOVE SYMPTOMS OVER THE WEEKEND, PLEASE INFORM THE SCHOOL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (VIA EMAIL) TO ENSURE THAT THE SCHOOL CAN TAKE THE NECCESARY PRECAUTIONS IN-LINE WITH OUR RISK ASSESSMENT AND GUIDANCE FROM OUR LOCAL HEALTH PROTECTION TEAM. PLEASE SEND THE EMAIL TO EITHER head@stanboroughprimary.org.uk or info@stanboroughprimary.org.uk
Attendance:
Each school in the local authority has an attendance target which is set for them. This year our published school attendance target is 96%. We are over target in all year groups – fantastic!

Internet Safety Day
This year in the UK, Safer Internet Day explores reliability online. The internet has an amazing range of information and opportunities online, but how do we separate fact from fiction? Safer Internet Day will be celebrated globally with the slogan: Together for a better internet. Tomorrow the children will attend an online assembly and participate in a number of workshops this week.
Half Term
Our half term break will commence from Monday 15th – Friday 19th February. School will be closed during this week. Please take the opportunity to rest and recharge ready to do it all again from Monday 22nd February 2021 at 9:00am.
Government Update:
At this point in time there is no further news on the Government’s plans for school to reopen on March 8th. They have advised that schools will receive two weeks’ notice of their intentions which will give us the time to plan effectively. As soon as we have any further information, I will communicate our plans to reopen safely for our pupils and school community at large.
Inclement Weather:
It is always our intention that the school will remain open, unless the weather conditions make it difficult for the children and staff to travel to school safely. The decision as to whether or not the school opens will normally be made by 7am on the day in question. A message will be posted on our website www.stanboroughprimary.org.uk (please note that the Inclement Weather Policy can be viewed on our website) as well as on Class Dojo. The decision to close is based on risk assessments in conjunction with the advice given by Hertfordshire Education Authority, Hertfordshire Police Service and neighbouring schools.
Parents Evening:
You will be receiving an email this week regarding our remote parent consultation which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 24th and 25thFebruary via Zoom appointments with the class teacher.
