Spring 1 Week 3

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has now been just over a week since the children returned from the Christmas break, and it has been great to see how quickly the term has fallen back into a smooth routine around the school. There has been some great learning in all classes, and it is evident that the children enjoy being back at school.

COVID-19 (New Arrangements From Today):
From today, anyone who are self-isolating with COVID-19 will have the option to reduce their isolation period after 5 full days if they test negative with a lateral flow device (LFD) test on both day 5 and day 6 and they do not have a temperature. For example, if they test negative on the morning of day 5 and the morning of day 6, they can return to their education or childcare setting immediately on day 6. The first test must be taken no earlier than day 5 of the self-isolation period, and the second must be taken the following day. All test results should be reported to NHS Test and Trace. If the result of either of their tests is positive, they should continue to self-isolate until they get negative results from two LFD tests on consecutive days or until they have completed 10 full days of self-isolation, whichever is earliest.  Anyone who is unable to take LFD tests or anyone who continues to have a temperature will need to complete the full 10 day period of self-isolation. Further information on self-isolation for those with COVID-19 is available Hand Hygiene Please continue to support the school by encouraging your children to maintain good hand hygiene throughout the day through co-operating when asked to wash or sanitise their hands. Please re-mind your child of the importance of washing their hands in soap and water for 20 seconds.  COVID Symptoms It is also important that you do not send your child to school if they have any symptoms of COVID- 19 and that they stay at home while you seek a PCR test. reported symptoms for the Omicron variant include a runny nose, headache, fatigue, sneezing and a sore throat as well as a repeated cough, high temperature and loss of taste and smell.  Instructions for reporting positive COVID-19 cases Please advise us if your child has tested positive for COVID-19. NHS Test and Trace will deal with contacting any persons considered to be a close contact.  Symptoms that you should consider are; · headache · runny nose · sore throat · new continuous cough and/or · high temperature and/or a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

Attendance W/C 10th January  2022:

Each school in the local authority has an attendance target that is set for them. This year our school attendance target is 97%. Of course, we do not expect children who are unwell to come into school. They need to stay at home and rest to get well. They also need to stay at home, so they don’t pass on illness to others.

Please contact the office if your child is unable to attend school by 10:00am every day in line with our school policy. We understand that the building is cold, but we have to keep the windows open for ventilation due to Government regulations, so please ensure that your children arrive at school with lots of layers to keep warm.

Fundraising Clothes Bank:

Please feel free to donate any unwanted clothes, shoes or textiles which will help raise funds for our school. Please ensure that all items are in a carrier bag/black sack before depositing. Thank you.

Clubs

All afterschool clubs will be running as normal this week. Some clubs still have spaces so please do contact the office if you would like your child to attend our afterschool provision.

Uniform:

Please can we ask that all items of clothing are labelled with your child’s name.

Inclement Weather:

It is always our intention that the school will remain open unless the weather conditions make it difficult for the children and staff to travel to school safely. The decision as to whether the school opens will normally be made by 7am on the day in question. A message will be posted on our website www.stanboroughprimary.org.uk (Please note that the Inclement Weather Policy can be viewed on our website) as well as on Class Dojo. The decision made is based on risk assessment in conjunction with the advice given by Hertfordshire Education Authority, Hertfordshire Police Service and neighbouring schools including our Secondary School.
