Headteacher’s Blog

28th June 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

Another action-packed week has seen even more wonderful achievements being celebrated! I have seen some fantastic writing following our Virtual week of prayer with Rich Aguilera, listened to a music composition from the Year 5 & 6  in preparation for our end of year celebration. As well as watch the whole school, including Saffy, participate in a sponsored walk organised by the School Council to raise funds for a dedicated Wellbeing space in the school. Not forgetting an impromptu visit to the Secondary school with the EYFS – See below. One of our EYFS pupils aspiring to be the next Secondary School Principal!  The Year 5 class also had an out of this world Science lesson with Mrs Anderson. Please keep an eye on Class Dojo and Class Books to see your child’s learning across the week in pictures.

Lunches:

Please be reminded that school lunches are available Monday – Friday (£2.50 per day). Please remember to pre-order your child’s meal choice (especially for the younger children in the Early Years). Please pay for school meals in advance via the school office (wearing a face covering) or preferably via bank transfer to the school account with the reference of your child’s name and DINNERS.  This week we are on WEEK 2 of the menu.

Please note: There will be no school dinners on Wednesday, 7th July 2021 as I am pleased to advise that we will be hosting a BBQ and afternoon of rounders/games for all staff and pupils in conjunction with the Secondary School. Please do note that current restrictions and safety procedures will remain in place at all times whilst we are on the field. We want all children and staff to give a £1:00 donation. Children can bring a packed lunch should they not wish to have a BBQ lunch. A menu will be shared in due course.  PLEASE CONFIRM WITH MRS WARWICK IF YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR CHILD TO HAVE BBQ FOOD, SO WE CAN CATER ACCORDINGLY.

Eat Them To Defeat Them:

This week it’s carrot week – there is no change to the meals but the cooks are being creative with some of the puddings!

Keeping Our Community Safe:

Please remember, though, that the rules for school and self-isolation have not changed. If your child, or anyone else in your household, experiences any of the three main symptoms of:

  • persistent cough,
  • temperature of 37.8 degrees Celsius or higher
  • loss of taste or smell you should begin self-isolation and book a Covid test.

SHOULD YOUR CHILD DEVELOP ANY OF THE SYMPTOMS ABOVE, PLEASE INFORM THE SCHOOL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (VIA EMAIL) TO ENSURE THAT THE SCHOOL CAN TAKE THE NECCESARY PRECAUTIONS IN-LINE WITH OUR RISK ASSESSMENT AND GUIDANCE FROM OUR LOCAL HEALTH PROTECTION TEAM. PLEASE SEND THE EMAIL TO EITHER head@stanboroughprimary.org.uk or info@stanboroughprimary.org.uk

Attendance W/C 21st  June 2021

Each school in the local authority has an attendance target which is set for them. This year our published school attendance target is 96%. Well done to Years 2, 4 and 6 with a 100% attendance. We’re almost at the end of the academic year, just the last final push – let’s aim for 100% across all year groups this week.

Please contact the office if your child is unable to attend school by 10:00am every day in line with our school policy. We understand that the building is cold, but we have to keep the windows open for ventilation due to Government regulations, so please ensure that your children arrive at school with lots of layers to keep warm.

Ice Cream Friday:

We are pleased to announce that the HSA will be introducing Ice Cream Fridays on Friday 2nd  & 9th July 2021 after school. To avoid crowding, ice creams will be available to purchase in various places outside school and cost 50p each. Finally, let us remember the scripture: The heavens are yours; the earth is also yours; the world and all that is in it, you have founded them. Psalms 89:11

Transition Day – Year 6:

We have been informed by several secondary schools that they have now cancelled their planned transition days this term. All year 6 pupils will meet with the Secondary School Transition Lead and former pupils as part of our in-house preparation for moving on. I am confident that the pupils will find this meeting most informative and useful.

Safeguarding – Positive Parenting – NSPCC

The NSPCC has put together a ‘ positive parenting’ leaflet around understanding your child’s views, setting boundaries and building positive relationships. This booklet has top tips and suggestions for both parents and pupils. Click on the link below for further information.

Finally, let us remember Psalms 37:4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Love & Blessings,
