Autumn 2 Week 7

Dear Parents and Carers,

Last week all children in the school spent time at the mobile farm which visited our school as part of our Wellness Wednesday programme. This was an enjoyable experience for both the children and staff. We ended our week celebrating Christmas Jumper Day – the children and staff looked amazing! Sadly, we only raised £30 for Save the Children, but you can still contribute via the school office or directly into the school account. Thank you so much for being so supportive.

COVID-19:
You will be aware that NHS test and trace now get in touch with close contacts, who are then advised to take a PCR test. Pupils under 18 identified as close contacts do not need to self-isolate if they do not have symptoms.  As you know, our contingency plan is now in operation due to an outbreak.  General COVID information Symptoms: • a high temperature • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours • a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal  If you are not sure whether you or your child’s symptoms suggest that they have coronavirus or an everyday cough or cold, you can consult this online NHS symptom checker: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/ For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.  If you are concerned about your child’s health or the health of anyone else in your household please seek advice from your GP, use NHS 111 online https://111.nhs.uk/or call NHS 111.  There are things you can do to reduce the risk of getting COVID-19: • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available • wash your hands as soon as you get to your destination • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards NB: The Arrangements for the Christmas holidays regarding reporting Covid-19 will be shared with you in our final Newsletter along with our plans for the new year.

Attendance W/C 6th  December 2021:

Each school in the local authority has an attendance target that is set for them. This year our school attendance target is 97%. Of course, we do not expect children who are unwell to come into school. They need to stay at home and rest to get well. They also need to stay at home, so they don’t pass on illness to others.

Christmas Post Box:

Pupils are welcome to bring Christmas cards to school to post in the post-box near the Headteacher’s office from today. Please make sure that the recipient’s name is clearly marked on the envelope. The cards will be distributed daily by the office team until the last day of term.

Inclement Weather:

It is always our intention that the school will remain open unless the weather conditions make it difficult for the children and staff to travel to school safely. The decision as to whether the school opens will normally be made by 7 am on the day in question. A message will be posted on our website www.stanboroughprimary.org.uk(Please note that the Inclement Weather Policy can be viewed on our website) as well as on Class Dojo. The decision made is based on risk assessment in conjunction with the advice given by Hertfordshire Education Authority, Hertfordshire Police Service and neighbouring schools including our Secondary School.
