Greetings Parents and Caregivers,
I hope you had a relaxing weekend and enjoyed the recent bank holiday. As you received our monthly newsletter on Friday, I will keep this week’s message brief. This month, we have a range of exciting activities and events to anticipate. Our KS2 students will participate in the annual Cross Country event on Wednesday, May 3rd. Furthermore, we are delighted to announce that we will celebrate the Coronation of King Charles with a school-wide picnic on Friday 5th May. To commemorate this momentous occasion, we encourage everyone to wear red, white, and blue sporting attire. Instead of lunchtime in the dining hall, we will gather on the field for a picnic followed by outdoor games until the end of the school day. We are hoping for good weather, so please ensure that your child dresses appropriately for the conditions. Additionally, ensure that they have suitable footwear for running around on the field. Lastly, note that Monday, May 8th, is a bank holiday.

Attendance W/C 24th April 2023:
Each school under the local authority has a designated attendance goal, and this year, our school’s target is to achieve a 96% attendance rate. Naturally, we do not anticipate unwell children to attend school as they need ample rest to recuperate and prevent the spread of illness to others.
If a child arrives after the register’s closing time, it will be marked as an unauthorised absence unless a valid reason is provided and approved by the Headteacher. Any child arriving late (after 08.50am) must go to the school office and be signed in by an accompanying adult. If a pattern of tardiness becomes frequent, the Headteacher will address the matter with the parent. It is important to note that being only 5 minutes late each day could result in your child missing the equivalent of three school days over the year.
Year Group | Attendance % |
Nursery | 89.23% |
Reception | 100% |
Year 1 | 100% |
Year 2 | 94% |
Year 3 | 100% |

Congratulations to Reception, Year 1, Year 2 Year 3 and Year 6 for 100% attendance this week. All classes with 100% attendance will receive an additional 15 minutes of playtime this week.
Medical/Dental Appointments:
To ensure accurate attendance records, please provide a written note to your child’s teacher or the school office or call the office to report any absences. It is important to follow our school policy and inform the office by 10:00 am if your child is unable to attend school. Thank you for your cooperation.

Swimming Lessons – SUMMER TERM 2023
From now until the end of the Summer Term, swimming lessons will be held on Monday afternoons from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm. During these lessons, children should wear their full PE kit instead of their school uniform, and the school logo should be visible as they represent the school. We aim to always maintain high uniform standards. Children should bring a swimsuit or trunks (one-piece swimsuits only), a towel, and goggles in a separate swimming bag. Please note that when the children enter the changing area, they are required to remove their shoes and socks. Plastic overshoes will not be provided, so children may bring a clean and lightweight pair of flip-flops to wear.
Reminder South West Herts Consortium – Year 6 2023/24:
The online registration for the transfer is currently available and will remain open until Friday, June 16th, 2023. To get more information about the transfer process and significant dates, please visit the following link: https://www.swhertsschools.org.uk/calendar We strongly recommend that all parents take note of the registration deadlines and make sure to register their child during the designated period.
Cross Country:
The junior Cross Country event is set to occur on Wednesday, May 3rd, subject to weather conditions. Pupils in Year 3 to Year 6 are required to wear their school shorts, PE shirts, and tracksuits/hoodies when they come to school. Running trainers and water bottles are necessary items to bring. In case of muddy ground, a change of clothes and shoes will be necessary for indoor use. The race will commence at 11.15 am. Parents are encouraged to attend and cheer for the runners. Upon arrival, please check-in at the school office.
Packed Lunches:
We would like to remind you that school dinners are no longer available, and it is necessary for you to provide your child with a packed lunch every day until further notice. We have received several inquiries about including hot food in packed lunches from home. You may do so, but please ensure that it is packed in a suitable container and not in glass, as our staff are unable to reheat the food.
