Autumn 1 Week 2

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been another busy week at Stanborough Primary School. Our new children are finding their feet and have continued settling in and forming new friendships. Our school value last week was ‘excellence’, and I was pleased to see the children demonstrating this value in their learning, play and interactions with their peers and teachers.

I want to remind you that the school gates open at 8:30am everyday. Teachers have activities for the children to complete from 8:30am each morning. We would like to encourage all pupils to be in school from 8:30am as this enables teachers to begin lessons from 8:45am. Anyone arriving after the register has closed, is classed as an unauthorised absence unless a suitable reason is given and has been authorised via the school office.

Any frequent lateness pattern will be addressed either by a member of the Safeguarding Team or with me. Please note that as little as 5 minutes late a day will result in your child missing the equivalent of three days of school across the year. This is lost learning time that we cannot get back! We are here to help – so please do not hesitate to contact me if you need assistance in this area.

Please note any absences due to illness should be reported to the school no later than 10:00am by calling  01923 673291. In addition, you must notify the school office daily regarding your child’s absence.

Holidays in term time are discouraged by the school. Absences taken without permission are automatically recorded as unauthorised. The Safeguarding Governor analyses all unauthorised absences on behalf of the School Board. Any absence requests will be authorised on a case-by-case scenario. Over the coming weeks, we will share our new incentives to improve attendance with you and the pupils as this will be one of our school priorities this year.

Each school in the local authority has an attendance target that is set for them. This year our school attendance target is 96%. Of course, we do not expect children who are unwell to come to school. They need to stay at home and rest to get well. They also need to stay at home, so they do not pass on illness to others.
