We looked at the work of the British artist Andy Goldsworthy.
With plenty of examples of his artwork, alongside colourful illustrations, the children were encouraged to think about the natural materials used by Goldsworthy to create his sculptures, and how they feel about them. The children used different natural materials to create their beautiful pieces of art outside. They also created amazing African sunset scenes which combined a background wash with bold silhouettes. The children were inspired to explore, texture, colour, scene-setting and storytelling through producing a striking artwork.
Pablo Picasso summed it up well; “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up”
