Summer Week 6

Dear Parents and Carers,

The weather was glorious last week, and we made the most of our beautiful grounds. Last Wednesday, some of the pupils and I took a lunchtime stroll in the park to watch the secondary school students participate in their annual sports day. As we watched and cheered with excitement, it was only a matter of time before the primary pupils wanted to be a part of the action – I want to thank Mr James for allowing the children to spectate and participate in the races too! We are all looking forward to the primary school sports day on Wednesday 15th June 2022.

Stanborough’s Got Talent:

Our pupils showcased the vast array of talents they possess at our annual Talent Show. The audience whooped, cheered, sang along, and supported fellow pupils through piano solos, singing, comedy, dance, and races with something for everyone. I was amazed and blown away by the children’s many diverse gifts and talents! Thank you to all of the pupils who participated – you shone brightly for all to see – Thank you for sharing your beautiful skills with us.

Attendance W/C 16th May 2022:

Each school in the local authority has an attendance target that is set for them. This year our school attendance target is 97%. Of course, we do not expect children who are unwell to come into school. They need to stay at home and rest to get well. They also need to stay at home, so they don’t pass on illness to others.

2-year-old provision:

So we can gauge the level of interest in this provision, if you feel that this would be of relevance to you and your family, please register your interest with the school office. If you have any questions or enquiries, please feel free to speak with Mrs Dean-Roberts (EYFS Lead).

Queen’s Jubilee Tea Party on Wednesday 25th May:

The staff and I are looking forward to hosting a whole school tea party to mark HM’s 70 years of reign. The tea party will be held in the school hall after lunch. I would like the children to come dressed to impress, as there will be singing (the national anthem), dancing and dining like kings and queens. I want to thank our parent governor, Enoch Kanagaraj, for his donations to this event from the Co-op.

HCL Jubilee Lunch Menu – Thursday 26th May 2022

To continue on with the Jubilee Celebrations, HCL will be providing a special Jubilee lunch (in replace of the normal menu) on Thursday, 26th May 2022.

The children can select a choice of:

·         Jubilee Mac ‘n’ Cheese

·         Jewelled Roasted Vegetable Crown with Yorkshire Pudding

·         Black Forest Gateau or Ice Cream

Thank a Teacher Day on Thursday 26th May:

Finally, in a shameless plug for our teaching and non-teaching staff, I would like to let you know that it is Thank a Teacher Day on Thursday 26th May. This national campaign is your chance to celebrate teachers and support staff for their fantastic work at the heart of our communities, and I know I’m biased, but I think we have a lot to celebrate at Stanborough Primary School. If you would like to send a thank you to a member of staff, then please go to the website https://thankateacher.co.uk/ where you can find more information. A simple thank you from you could make someone’s day!

Additional INSET DAYS – Monday 6th June 2022:

We have arranged an additional INSET day, which will take place after May half-term. Therefore, pupils will not be required to attend school on Monday 6th June 2022. This will allow school leaders and teachers to meet and undertake essential training, which will continue to strengthen our schools and ultimately enhance the learning experience for all our children.
