Spring / Week 9

Dear Parents & Carers,

It was a busy first week back this term!

I want to thank everyone who attended the Parent Consultation Meetings on Wednesday 22nd February and Thursday 23rd February where teachers shared details about your son or daughter’s progress and targets. I do hope that you enjoyed looking through your son or daughter’s books and the different curriculum displays around the school showcasing our pupil’s progress in all subjects across the school.

This week we are looking forward to celebrating World Book Day on Wednesday 1st March. We have asked the children to dress up as a favourite book character, and encouraged them to see if they can re-use a costume that they already have at home. We are really excited to celebrate World Book Day and to promote reading for pleasure.

Attendance W/C 20th February 2023:

Each school in the local authority has an attendance target that is set for them. This year our school attendance target is 96%. Of course, we do not expect children who are unwell to come to school. They need to stay at home and rest to get well. They also need to stay at home, so they do not pass on illness to others.

Please be reminded that we no longer serve school dinners and that you must provide your child with a packed lunch daily until further notice.

Swimming Lessons – Spring Term Second Half:

Please be reminded that swimming lessons start back this week (for Years 3 – 6) at Everyone Active, Watford Central on Thursdays.Children are required to wear their full PE kit (instead of full school uniform) with the school logo visible as they are representing the school and we wish to maintain our high uniform standards at all time. Children are required to bring trunks/a swimsuit (one-piece swimming costume only), a towel and goggles in a separate swimming bag. Please note when the children enter the changing area they are required to remove their shoes and socks. Plastic overshoes are not provided so children may bring a lightweight pair of clean flip flops to wear.

Cuppa and Chat Morning:

All parents and carers are welcome to come to our tea/coffee morning on Wednesday, 1st March, from 8:45 am – 9:45 am in the Wellbeing room – please access via the playground. It is envisaged that sessions will allow us to receive feedback from our parents about what works well and how we could improve. The morning also provides Senior Leaders to share what the school is doing and provide parents/carers with tips and advice on how you can further support your child’s academic achievements. We look forward to seeing you.

Author Visit – Emily Lloyd-Gale:

We are excited to announce that we have a children’s book author, Emily Lloyd-Gale visiting our school on Thursday, 2nd March 2023. She will be doing various talks and activities with all year groups on the day.
