Dear Parents and Carers,
I trust that this email finds you well. It was wonderful to see how quickly the children settled into another week of online learning. I am pleased that the children have been letting their lights shine by showing the school values in their attitude to learning, towards each other and in the work they have produced. We are looking forward to welcoming ALL children back to school on Monday 8th March from 8:25am. Children will continue as normal with topics already started this term. Teachers have been consistently tracking children’s learning during the remote learning phase and will continue to do so when pupils return. If necessary, we will adapt the provision to ensure that it meets all of our pupil’s needs and addresses any potential gaps in learning. If you are concerned or your child feels anxious about returning, please let us know so that the Wellbeing Team and I can work together to ensure a smooth restart. I have said this before, but I make no apologies for repeating myself – we really believe that you have all done an amazing job over the past year in very challenging circumstances. The way you have nurtured and supported your children will have made a difference. So please be kind to yourself and believe (as we do) that you have done the very best for your children.

FAO of Parents Whose Children are in school:
Please check your child for symptoms, and do not come into school if they or anyone in your family show the following symptoms:
- a high temperature (please try to take their temperature every morning)
- a new, continuous cough or symptoms – this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
- a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
The above 3 symptoms are from the NHS, and you should always consult your GP or call 111 NHS or use the coronavirus service https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19/
What to do if you have symptoms:
If you have any of the main symptoms of coronavirus:
1. Get a test to check if you have coronavirus as soon as possible.
2. Stay at home and do not have visitors until you get your test result – only leave your home to have a test.
3. Anyone you live with, and anyone in your support bubble, must also stay at home until you get your result. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/ Always contact the school if you are unsure of what to do or would like some advice.
SHOULD YOUR CHILD DEVELOP ANY OF THE ABOVE SYMPTOMS OVER THE WEEKEND, PLEASE INFORM THE SCHOOL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (VIA EMAIL) TO ENSURE THAT THE SCHOOL CAN TAKE THE NECCESARY PRECAUTIONS IN-LINE WITH OUR RISK ASSESSMENT AND GUIDANCE FROM OUR LOCAL HEALTH PROTECTION TEAM. PLEASE SEND THE EMAIL TO EITHER head@stanboroughprimary.org.uk or info@stanboroughprimary.org.uk
Key Worker & Nursery Children:
This week, the school remains open from Monday 1st to Thursday 4th March for the following: Nursery, vulnerable and key workers children only. We will be closed on Friday 5th March for deep cleaning and preparation for reopening on Monday 8th March, we will still be providing an online provision for all children. Please let me know if your child requires a place. We must continue to mitigate the risk to our children and staff by keeping our numbers as low as possible.
Attendance:
Each school in the local authority has an attendance target which is set for them. This year our published school attendance target is 96%. We are over target in all year groups – fantastic!
I am over the moon with pupil attendance and engagement during live lessons last week. Thank you so much for your efforts in getting pupils to join the lessons.
Nursery | 94.59% |
Reception | 90% |
Year 1 | 100% |
Year 2 | 100% |
Year 3 | 97.5% |

Please contact the office if your child is unable to join live lessons or school by 10:00am every day in line with our school policy.
Book Week:
On Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th March we will be celebrating World Book Day. The children will be participating in a range of activities with Jane Clarke, a prolific children’s author. We would like to remind the children to dress up or create a face mask for their favourite character for a whole school assembly on Thursday 4th March – assembly link will be shared with students nearer the time. I do hope that the children will enjoy the day and all the activities that their teachers have planned for them.
Chrome Books:
I am delighted to inform you that we should be receiving our final order of Chromebooks this week. We will contact the relevant families when the Chromebooks have been set up and ready for collection. Pupils will be expected to bring their Chromebooks into school from week commencing 15th March 2021. Teachers will be dedicating some time to show pupils how to use and access the features on the Chromebooks as well as features within Microsoft office. If you have purchased a licence only, please contact the office from Monday 8th March to arrange a time to bring your device into school for installation.
In closing remember:
‘But those who trust in the Lord for help will find their strength renewed. They will rise on wings like eagles; they will run and not get weary; they will walk and not grow weak’. Isaiah 40:31 (GNTD)
Blessings,
Mrs T Madden
