Shang Dynasty themed Party!

This Friday, we had a special Chinese party inspired by our history topic ‘The Shang Dynasty’. We learned Chinese phrases, learned traditional Chinese dances and played Chinese games like ‘Dragon tail’. Our whole classroom was decorated with red Chinese lanterns.

Additionally, we flew kites because kites are traditional for China. They originated in China between 475 BCE and 221 BCE with the first kites made of wood and mimicking the shapes of birds.

For lunch, we had traditional Chinese food and we had to use chopsticks to eat it! We also ate fortune cookies. We received gifts at the end of the day, linking to the Chinese calendar animals we learned about. We had so much fun! It was a memorable experience which made us feel like we are in China!
