You might be wondering how we could measure the height of a tree in Stanborough Park. Well, all you need is a piece of card folded into the shape of a right angled triangle and something to measure with. Stand facing the tree at a distance so that you can see the top of the tree when holding the triangle in front of your eyes and looking up along the hypotenuse. Once you find that spot, measure from where you are standing to the middle of the tree and add on your own height. You then have a pretty accurate reading of the tree’s height. Arjun suggested, “Very useful if you want to cut the tree down and know where it will fall to.”
