Autumn 1 Week 2

Dear Parents and Carers,

SCHOOL VALUE OF THE WEEK: Excellence

I trust that you are all keeping well. I am pleased to report that our first full week of the new Academic Year amidst a pandemic went very well. Class teachers are ensuring that pupils are settling into the new routines and are beginning to assess and identify potential gaps in learning. We know circumstances varied across families during the lockdown, so we aim to get everyone back to where they should be as soon as possible. I have been continuously walking around the school and have been so impressed with the learning that has been taking place, in addition to observing children following the new hygiene protocols in school.

Keeping our Community Safe:

Please check your child for symptoms, and do not come into school if they or anyone in your family show the following symptoms:

  • a high temperature (please try to take their temperature every morning)
  • a new, continuous cough or symptoms – this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
  • a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

The above 3 symptoms are from the NHS, and you should always consult your GP or call 111 NHS or use the coronavirus service https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19/

What to do if you have symptoms:

If you have any of the main symptoms of coronavirus:

1. Get a test to check if you have coronavirus as soon as possible.

2. Stay at home and do not have visitors until you get your test result – only leave your home to have a test.

3. Anyone you live with, and anyone in your support bubble, must also stay at home until you get your result. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/  Always contact the school if you are unsure of what to do or would like some advice.

SHOULD YOUR CHILD DEVELOP ANY OF THE ABOVE SYMPTOMS OVER THE WEEKEND, PLEASE INFORM THE SCHOOL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (VIA EMAIL) TO ENSURE THAT THE SCHOOL CAN TAKE THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS IN-LINE WITH OUR RISK ASSESSMENT AND GUIDANCE FROM OUR LOCAL HEALTH PROTECTION TEAM. PLEASE SEND THE EMAIL TO EITHER head@stanboroughprimary.org.uk or info@stanboroughprimary.org.uk

Attendance:

Each school in the local authority has an attendance target which is set for them. This year our published school attendance target is 96%.

Please see below for all classes with 100% attendance this week:

Nursery 100%
Reception 87.8%
Year 1 85%

Year 3 81.5%

If you are requesting time off for your child for exceptional circumstances such as an operation, you must complete an Absence Request Form. You can get an Absence Request Form from the office. Please let the school office know if your child needs to isolate immediately as this will enable us to provide a remote provision for your son or daughter.

Secondary School Transfer Meeting:

On Friday 18th September 2020 we will be hosting a virtual meeting (meeting details to follow nearer the time)  to discuss the above and provide you with an opportunity to meet representatives from Stanborough Secondary School.

School Uniform:

Uniform should be worn as usual except on days when the children are partaking in Forest School activities and PE Lessons, as this will enable us to limit movement around the school when the children need to change for various activities. Uniform can be purchased from our uniform suppliers, Beats School Uniform, www.beatschooluniforms.co.uk. See table below for further information:
