Headteacher’s Blog

Dear Parents & Carers,

Last week was an extraordinary week like no other; we participated in all of the following events – Mental Health Workshops, the Dog Mentor assembly, and attending the Virtual Wilderness Camp. We would also like to congratulate all children who participated in the Bikeability course and successfully passed either level 1 or 2 or both.

Please see below for further information relating to this week’s activities.

Please pay for school meals in advance via the school office (wearing a face covering) or preferably via bank transfer to the school account with the reference of your child’s name and DINNERS.

This week we are on WEEK 2 of the menu.

Eat them to Defeat them

As mentioned back in April, Herts Catering have joined with ITV, Channel 4, Sky, Public Health England and big named supermarkets to support inspiring more children to eat more veg. Today, the children will learn about this in assembly and they will be bringing home their very own mission pack. HCL will be promoting a vegetable each week for 6 weeks starting after half term and the children will be rewarded for eating the dish containing the vegetable of the week. Week commencing 7 June is Tomato week and on Tuesday, the dish containing tomatoes is the Green option, Rainbow Tomato & Mozzarella tart.

Keeping Our Community Safe:

It has been a great relief to many to see the rules around Covid gradually relaxing. Please remember, though, that the rules for school and self-isolation have not changed. If your child, or anyone else in your household, experiences any of the three main symptoms of:

–          persistent cough,

–          temperature of 37.8 degrees Celsius or higher

–          loss of taste or smell you should begin self-isolation and book a Covid test.

SHOULD YOUR CHILD DEVELOP ANY OF THE SYMPTOMS ABOVE, PLEASE INFORM THE SCHOOL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (VIA EMAIL) TO ENSURE THAT THE SCHOOL CAN TAKE THE NECCESARY PRECAUTIONS IN-LINE WITH OUR RISK ASSESSMENT AND GUIDANCE FROM OUR LOCAL HEALTH PROTECTION TEAM. PLEASE SEND THE EMAIL TO EITHER head@stanboroughprimary.org.uk or info@stanboroughprimary.org.uk

Attendance W/C 31th May 2021

Each school in the local authority has an attendance target which is set for them. This year our published school attendance target is 96%.  Let’s aim for  100% across all year groups this week.

Year GroupAttendance %
Nursery72.06
Reception88.89
Year 1100
Year 2100
Year 385.71
Year 4100
Year 592.19
Year 694.23

Please contact the office if your child is unable to attend school by 10:00am every day in line with our school policy. We understand that the building is cold, but we have to keep the windows open for ventilation due to Government regulations, so please ensure that your children arrive at school with lots of layers to keep warm.

Being in school on time is also important, as most teachers have early morning work ready for the children to do as soon as they arrive in the classroom,  to maximise children’s learning opportunities. In fact, why not take advantage of the fact that gates open from 8.25am (EYFS-Y6) and get to school even before the start of the school day at 8.45am? Of course, we do understand that at times, there are unavoidable delays, e.g. traffic, but those should be the exception, not the rule.

Admissions:

Please do let friends and family in the community (or further afield) know that we are still accepting pupils from September onwards. Please click on admission to register your interest.
