This half term in Year 5, we are going on a journey, exploring the seas and oceans of the world. We have learned about the significance of bristlemouth fish. We also learned about the characteristics of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians.

We learned about the five zones of the ocean and the contrast between the different habitats and environments. We also explored the features of fish and marine mammals and how they adapt to their environment.

We also explored the process of bioluminescence and the chemical reactions which occur to help animals scare off predators or attract their prey. We looked at marine food chains and the difference between predators in the different zones. We also designed our own fish, with features suitable for the lower zones of the ocean.
