Yesterday parents and children of our reception class attended a phonics workshop. We shared our vision of reading for pleasure and that our phonics scheme Rocket phonics links to this. We shared our daily teaching routine and how big books are used daily to teach phonics. The parents had the opportunity to take part in a sound button activity. We discussed the vital and important role that parents have when they support their children in learning new sounds and listening to their children read. There were opportunities for parents to ask questions.
