Autumn 2 Week 5

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have worked closely with Public Health England (PHE) over the last two weeks and as a result of the protocols put in place, I am pleased to say that we are out of ‘outbreak’ measures. PHE are really happy with the case numbers currently at the school and we continue to do everything we can to offer a first-class education for everyone throughout this pandemic. However, we will be continuing with our current measures until the end of term. We would like to remind you that face coverings should be worn during drop off/ collection times if you come out of your car or visit the school office – this is for your protection and the school community at large.

Remote Learning

Just a note to congratulate those children that are working from home completing home learning. We look forward to your return soon.

COVID-19
You will be aware that NHS test and trace now get in touch with close contacts, who are then advised to take a PCR test. Pupils under 18 identified as close contacts do not need to self-isolate if they do not have symptoms.  As you know, our contingency plan is now in operation due to an outbreak.  General COVID information Symptoms: • a high temperature • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours • a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal  If you are not sure whether you or your child’s symptoms suggest that they have coronavirus or an everyday cough or cold, you can consult this online NHS symptom checker: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/ For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.  If you are concerned about your child’s health or the health of anyone else in your household please seek advice from your GP, use NHS 111 online https://111.nhs.uk/ or call NHS 111.  There are things you can do to reduce the risk of getting COVID-19: • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available • wash your hands as soon as you get to your destination • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards

Attendance W/C 22nd  November 2021

Each school in the local authority has an attendance target that is set for them. This year our school attendance target is 97%. Of course, we do not expect children who are unwell to come into school. They need to stay at home and rest to get well. They also need to stay at home, so they don’t pass on illness to others. This is particularly important if they have had a tummy bug. Public Health England advises that children should not come back to school for 48 hours after their last bout of vomiting or diarrhoea. If children have poor attendance due to lots of illness, we will recommend a referral to your doctor or paediatrician to ensure no underlying health issues need to be addressed. We are praying for a speedy recovery for the children who are currently off, and we look forward to their return in due course.

Please contact the office if your child is unable to attend school by 10:00 am every day in line with our school policy. We understand that the building is cold, but we have to keep the windows open for ventilation due to Government regulations, so please ensure that your children arrive at school with lots of layers to keep warm.
