Dear Parents and Carers of Stanborough Primary School,
The school was a hive of activity last week as we participated in a week of prayer on discipleship and maths week. I hope you had an opportunity to talk to your children about both activities and review Class Dojo to see what we have been up to. We ended the week by attending our annual Remembrance Day service at the BUC Peace garden, which was attended by BUC Ministers, distinguished guests and one of our Parent Governors, Enoch Kanagaraj. All in attendance fell silent for two minutes at 11 am to remember those who had died in military conflicts and to commemorate the signing of the peace agreement that ended the First World War. The Year 5 class read poems and the other classes laid decorative wreaths on behalf of the school community. I am incredibly proud of how all our pupils represented themselves – continue to let your lights shine bright wherever you go.
This week, we will recognise ‘Anti-Bullying Week’ in school. This will be done through our school assembly and a range of work and activities in class. In addition, children and teachers have been encouraged to wear odd socks today to recognise that we are all different and that differences should be celebrated. We will also continue with some maths activities from our maths week, so keep checking Class Dojo to see what we get to this week.
Also, please note, pupils are required to wear full uniform on Wednesday 16th November 2022 due to individual/sibling photos being taken.

Phonics Workshop – New:
We invite our EYFS and KS1 parents to attend a workshop on how we teach early reading and phonics at our school. The meeting will take place on Wednesday 23rd November in the school hall from 8:45pm – 9:30am. Our Deputy Headteacher, Mr Pritchard, will lead the session. During the workshop, he will introduce ‘Rocket Phonics’ and talk about the progression of how it is taught. He will also show you how we link the teaching of phonics to the teaching of reading and how you can help at home to reinforce this. We look forward to welcoming you to our school and working in partnership to help you child progress in their learning.
Parent Coffee Mornings – New:
We are delighted to host our first parent coffee morning, which will take place on Wednesday 30th November and half termly thereafter in the Wellbeing Room. Parents are invited for refreshments from 8:45am -9:30am with members of the Senior Leadership team – you will have opportunity to meet other parents in the school, voice any concerns and ask questions. All feedback will be noted and we will endeavour to feedback on any action taken. We do hope that you can join us to celebrate our successes and help to further improve our school and the wider school community.
Be Bright Be Seen:
Now that winter is coming and it is getting darker in the evenings, we ask that you remind your children about the importance of wearing bright clothing and making themselves visible to others, especially vehicles.
If they ride a bike to and from school, it is a legal requirement for them to have a front and rear light on their bikes. You might also choose to ensure that they wear reflective accessories.
Please also remind them of the importance of looking properly before crossing the road, making themselves seen and avoiding distraction.
End-of-Day Procedures:
Please note that the gates to the main playground and Nursey area will close promptly at 4 pm each day. Thank you.
Car Park:
Unlike most primary schools across the country, we have been blessed with ample car parking spaces. Therefore, when dropping off or collecting your child please can I ask you to remember and continue to be considerate and ensure that you are not obstructing others in the bay or the zigzag area. Our children’s safety is our main priority. We appreciate your support in this matter.
