We have explored the theme ‘castles ’.Early years chose to use the resources in the small-world area to create their own castle. Clipboards and mark-making materials were available as part of a continuous provision for ideas to be represented on paper, if children wish. Some of them decided to write a list of things that they would need to built the castle with.
We showed to our nursery children how Maths is all around us. Sometimes, it can be difficult for children to imagine complex ideas like shapes and that’s why we made a 3D castle with different shapes biscuits.
