Collection for Philippines
It was with heavy hearts that we watched the tragedy unfold in the Philippines over the last two weeks and we extend our sympathies and prayers to our Filipino brothers and sisters here at the school and overseas. We would like to join in the church-wide collection that is taking place, by providing an opportunity to collect an offering in our Monday assembly on the 25th November 2013. If you would like your child to make a donation, please send them in with an offering on Monday, so that we can show our love and support at this time. Thank you.
Thank you for attending parents’ evening on 7th November. Mrs Fletcher-Bryan is away at present, but I am sure she would want me to offer her apologies for the timing of the Year 4 Parents’ Evening. We have reviewed the event and put new measures in place to ensure that we run to time in subsequent meetings. To those parents who had a long wait, we thank you for your patience.
We will be having a whole-school Christmas lunch on Tuesday 17th December 2013. The cost is £4. Pre-booking at the office is essential as numbers need to be finalised by Monday 2nd December. Where a booking is not made, we will assume that the pupil is having a packed lunch. Please note that there will be a ‘free’ non-uniform day on that day. The children may wear comfortable clothing of their choice. The Nursery will have their own arrangements and those parents will be notified of the plans accordingly.
We have had a reported case of head lice at the Secondary School. Please be sure to check your child’s hair regularly in order to minimise the risk of spreading.
We are thankful to Veronica Montgomery for taking up the gauntlet to Head the HSA this year. Veronica is beginning by working on the refreshments for the Christmas Concert, which will be on Thursday, 12th December. Please see the attached newsletter for further details.
The children have been reminded in a special assembly by Mrs Adewole, about the different forms that bullying can take. They have also been reminded of the part that each one can play in stamping out bullying and ensuring that everyone has a safe and happy time at school. I know that we will continue to rise to this challenge.
Week of Prayer
It was wonderful to hear about the ways that God answers prayers, as the different speakers shared their personal stories with us last week. We thank Pastors Wieczorek, Ackie, De Lisser and Jacqui Johnson for leading out in our whole-school assemblies. In addition, we thank Pastors Neves and Moore for meeting with the Reception and Nursery classes, respectively, to share stories and prayer with them.
There are two copies remaining at the office, for anyone who would like to purchase one. The cost is £5.
Leavesden Business Park
We are happy to be invited back to sing at Leavesden Business Park on Thursday 5th December 2013. The initial contact was established via Mrs St Clair (Adam’s mum in Y5). The singers who have been selected to participate are asked to return their consent letters by Monday 25th November 2013.
