Headteacher’s Blog

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back!

I do hope that you all had an enjoyable half-term break. It seems like the weather changed from summer to wintry showers towards the end of the week. Nevertheless, the staff and I enjoyed the rest and are ready and raring to go! We will be continuing with our current arrangement at the Secondary School until further notice. It was wonderful to see the pupils’ beaming faces this morning, and many commented on how great it is to be back at school. The following three weeks will be hectic. Please click on the curriculum link to see what topics your child will be covering this term. Keep an eye on the class blogs for further information.

Lunches:

Please be reminded that school lunches are available Monday – Friday (£2.50 per day). Please see the attached menu for Summer Term 2021 and remember to pre-order your child’s meal choice (especially for the younger children in the Early Years). Please pay for school meals in advance via the school office (wearing a face covering) or preferably via bank transfer to the school account with the reference of your child’s name and DINNERS. When we return after half-term, we will be on WEEK 1 of the menu.

Please note: There will be no school dinners on Wednesday, 7th July 2021 as I am pleased to advise that we will be hosting a BBQ and afternoon of rounders/games for all staff and pupils in conjunction with the Secondary School. Please do note that current restrictions and safety procedures will remain in place at all times whilst we are on the field. We want all children and staff to give a £1:00 donation. Children can bring a packed lunch should they not wish to have a BBQ lunch. A menu will be shared in due course.

Dinners for Summer term (second half) will be £36.00 (Including BBQ)

Keeping Our Community Safe:

Please remember, though, that the rules for school and self-isolation have not changed. If your child, or anyone else in your household, experiences any of the three main symptoms of:

  • persistent cough,
  • temperature of 37.8 degrees Celsius or higher
  • loss of taste or smell you should begin self-isolation and book a Covid test.

SHOULD YOUR CHILD DEVELOP ANY OF THE SYMPTOMS ABOVE, PLEASE INFORM THE SCHOOL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (VIA EMAIL) TO ENSURE THAT THE SCHOOL CAN TAKE THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS IN-LINE WITH OUR RISK ASSESSMENT AND GUIDANCE FROM OUR LOCAL HEALTH PROTECTION TEAM. PLEASE SEND THE EMAIL TO EITHER [email protected] or [email protected]

Attendance W/C 7th June 2021

Each school in the local authority has an attendance target which is set for them. This year our published school attendance target is 96%. I am impressed with last half-term’s overall attendance – let’s aim for 100% across all year groups this week.

Year GroupAttendance %

Reception84.44
Year 194.0
Year 2100
Year 382.86

Please contact the office if your child is unable to attend school by 10:00am every day in line with our school policy. We understand that the building is cold, but we have to keep the windows open for ventilation due to Government regulations, so please ensure that your children arrive at school with lots of layers to keep warm.

COVID Impact on Events this Term

As you will be aware, we have been waiting for the government’s decision regarding the further easing of COVID restriction before confirming some events in the academy diary for this half term.

Sadly, on the advice that we have received and in line with the COVID guidance, we have made the difficult decision not to run a few events this term. The school fete – 4th July has been cancelled. Also, we have decided not to hold our end of term assembly with parents and carers present. We will, of course, record the event for your viewing pleasure.

We understand that members of the community will be disappointed with this decision. However, the safety of students, parents, guardians, staff and the wider community must remain our priority. Please do understand that the decision not to run any event in our calendar is a tough one to make; we look forward to running with a full calendar of events in the new academic year.

Finally, let us remember the scripture: The heavens are yours; the earth is also yours; the world and all that is in it, you have founded them. Psalms 89:11

Love & Blessings,

Mrs T Madden
